Be The Change Australia is established for the public charitable purposes of educating and informing people about protection and sustainable use of the natural environment and encouraging people to live in an environmentally sustainable way.

For over 10 years we’ve been holding symposia to educate on issues including environmental sustainability; enabling and empowering people to take personal responsibility for the collective global future through positive action; and, achieving effective social change by providing education on social justice and spiritual fulfilment.

We believe in transitioning our culture to be a mutually benign presence on our Earth. This requires a shift in our current social values to ones that are life-enhancing and, ultimately, sustainable.

Be The Change Australia is a national organisation that has established itself with the mission to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually fulfilling human presence on this planet.

We are a small organisation with an annual turnover of $30K, which is managed by two staff and 10 volunteers. We seek to expand the team of Board members to provide the leadership and managerial oversight required for the organisation as it continues to grow to meet the needs of the communities it serves.

Candidates for Director Positions from all Australian states and territories will be considered.

In order to ensure an appropriate balance of skills, expertise and capability on the Board we are seeking candidates with several of the following qualities:

  • Strong personal characteristics of integrity, courage, teamwork, leadership, communication and strategic thinking;
  • Skills in fundraising and financial management;
  • Skills in community development including social media, brand development and peer networking;
  • Digital Systems Management skills to assist in administration of our IT and database capacity;
  • Knowledge and experience in corporate governance and the skills required to fulfil the duties of a director;
  • Personal values which are congruent with the values of Be The Change Australia.

We are seeking to appoint up to three Directors with background and experience in several of the above areas of focus.

Diversity in gender, age and culture is an important priority for the Board, and it is expected that the next appointments will contribute to achieving an appropriate diversity mix. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Directors do not receive remuneration but travelling and other expenses are paid.

The role is a rewarding one, providing the opportunity to contribute significantly to helping the diverse challenges of transitioning people in Australia to live environmentally sustainable, socially just and spiritually fulfilled lives.
